First Ten Smart Car Raffle Tickets Sold!
If you joined us for cocktails following the 2009 Nancy King Memorial Golf Tournament, you no doubt witnessed the sale of the very first Smart Car raffle tickets. In a matter of minutes, our savvy auctioneer had ten interested buyers. The short sale may have been helped by withholding dinner until we had reached our evening's quota - the stipulation being "no dough, no go." The staff at MetroWest Legal and your hungry golf partners are grateful to those who stepped/ran up to the plate.
The first ten Smart Car raffle tickets were sold to Larry Erickson, Framingham Co-operative Bank; Bob Lamprey, Framingham Co-operative Bank Charitable Foundation; Mark Bean, Casual Male Retail Group; Chris Horblit, Fidelity; Brent McDonald, Nutter, McClennen & Fish; Vince Peck, VP Solutions; Mike Heineman, Mingace & Heineman; and Chris Knollmeyer, Knollmeyer Building Corp, who bought three! Thanks very much! To purchase raffle tickets click here.
Want to be on our "Top Twenty" list of Smart Car Raffle ticket purchasers and have your name published on our website? Then Get Smart! and buy your ticket now before it's too late. The Smart Car will be showcased at various community events throughout the summer and fall. Look for the MetroWest Legal Services Car Raffle banner and booth and staff wearing the Get Smart! buttons. Smart Car raffle tickets will also be available online. The drawing will take place on November 12, 2009 at the MWLS "Evening of Wine Tasting and Art." A dour economy and unseasonably cold weather did not deter over 70 golfers from participating in our 12th annual charity golf event held May 18 at the Framingham Country Club. Although sponsorships and attendance were down this year compared to last, specifically $10,000 and 40 golfers short, the event brought in close to $50,000.
In an effort to streamline the day, the $225 registration fee included an express buffet lunch and dinner served at buffet stations instead of sit-down. Post-golf participants were treated to a live auction where multiple sets of Red Sox tickets and two vacations homes, among other items, were up for bid. Totals from the live and silent auction prizes brought in about $6,600, with the raffle bringing in $1,230.
In addition to the live auction, a silent auction and raffle, several on-course contests and the sale of $700 worth of mulligans contributed to the event’s success.
Special thanks to everyone who assisted in our fundraising efforts, especially auction and raffle item donors, corporate and individual sponsors, and golf participants.
